Workflows
Artemis provides a range of workflows for code analysis, development assistance and systematic code optimisation. Artemis Desktop supports local model inference and provides access to the same workflows available in the full Artemis SaaS platform. Each section links to the full documentation for that workflow. To try Discover on a real project, follow the Quick start.
Wherever a workflow asks for a model, such as a Scan, a Fix, a Plan build or a chat, choose your local model, for example Local/Qwen3-Coder-30B-A3B. See Connect a model.
Maintain
Identify and address issues in existing code.
- Define Rules for the standards your code should meet.
- Run a Scan to find bugs, security vulnerabilities and quality problems, recorded as Issues.
- Triage each Issue and fix the ones that matter, then review the change on a Branch.
For details, see Maintain.
Discover
Systematically explore alternative implementations and identify optimisation opportunities.
- Describe an Objective, such as reducing execution time or memory usage.
- Measure the Baseline and let a Discovery Run explore alternative implementations through Experiments.
- Evaluate each Version through execution and measurement on a Runner.
- Compare Versions against the Baseline to identify the most promising ones.
For details, see Discover.
Plan
Organise development and optimisation work before any code is written.
- Describe the goal and let the planning agent break the work into Tasks.
- Identify relevant code, tools and validation requirements.
- Build the Plan on a new Branch, or hand it to a Discovery Run.
- Review progress and decide the next steps.
For details, see Plan.
Branches
Review and verify code changes before they reach your repository.
- Review the changes a coding agent has made on a Branch.
- Run your Scripts to verify functional correctness and measure performance.
- Check that the changes satisfy your objectives and constraints.
- Publish the Branch to your Git provider when you accept the changes.
For details, see Branches and Build and Verify the Plan.
AI Agents
Interact with your codebase and get AI assistance with development tasks.
- Chat about your code and implementation choices.
- Explore solutions, discuss algorithms and data structures, and investigate potential improvements.
- Follow every agent working on the Project from one page.
For details, see AI Agents.
Integrations
The workflows use the same integrations as the rest of Artemis:
- Git Integration: import Projects from your Git provider and publish Branches to it. See also Import your codebase.
- Artemis Runner: run the Scripts that build, test and measure your code. Discover and Branch validation need a Runner; chat, planning and Scans do not. If the Runner is on the same machine as your model server, both share its CPU, GPU and memory.
- Artemis CLI: drive Artemis from the terminal or from a coding agent.
- Artemis Skills: teach your coding agent to use Artemis. See Quick start with a coding agent.
- MCP Connections: give your agents tools from external services.
