Connect Your Agent
Connect Your Agent sets up a coding agent on your machine (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or GitHub Copilot) to work with Artemis. Open it from the main sidebar, or under Settings.
The page knows your deployment and your operating system, so the commands it shows are the ones to run. You can hand the whole setup to the agent with a prompt, or do the steps yourself.
What gets set up
- The Artemis CLI, pointed at your deployment. This is how the agent talks to Artemis.
- Sign-in with an API key, created under Settings → API Keys.
- Optionally, the Artemis Skills, which teach the agent how to use the CLI for Artemis tasks.
Let the agent set itself up
- Open Connect Your Agent and copy the setup prompt.
- Paste it into your coding agent. The agent installs the CLI, points it at your deployment and, if you chose to, installs the skills.
- When the agent asks you to sign in, create an API key under Settings → API Keys and enter it in your own terminal. Do not paste the key into the conversation. A new key is shown only once, so copy it somewhere safe.
Do it by hand
The manual steps on the page are the same commands as on the Artemis CLI and Artemis Skills pages, filled in for your deployment:
-
Install the CLI: the installer on Linux and macOS, or the binary download on Windows.
-
Sign in and check the connection:
artemis login --api-key <your-api-key>artemis status -
Install the skills for your agent.
After connecting
From your checkout, your agent can start a Discovery Run, validate a change on a Runner, run a Maintain Scan or read results. Artemis and your coding agent explains what Artemis adds and shows four ways to use it. If you use Artemis Desktop, follow Quick start with a coding agent.
Neither the CLI nor your agent is the Runner. Builds, tests and benchmarks run on a Runner, which can be on another machine.
